PARLANDO - JOURNAL OF MUSIC PEDAGOGY

Hungary is in the top rank as regards the development of cello performance. Indeed, Joseph Haydn’s activities as a composer here in Hungary and especially the six cello concerts were the introduction of the instrument into the modern repertoire.

A renewed Hungaroton

It was high time that our record production showed signs of new life, we could say maliciously. Well, this freshly released CD is joyful for many reasons, beyond the fact that it foreshadows the Hungaroton renewal. It is joyful both because it gives voice to two brilliant young artists and because it introduces two Hungarian classics of our century's art of composition.

It was the festival of music

It might seem like a cliché but it is true, the fans of music could experience in these ten festival days, a condensed succession of imperishable sensations which will remain in the memory of the concert guests for a very long time.

Salutation of generations

In the revival of the musical life in postwar Cluj, György Halmos was one of the most prominent performers beside István Nagy, Antonin Ciolan, Antal Rónai and the later István Ruha. Later he was invited to teach in the Porumbescu Academy of Music in Bucharest.
