There's something about a live performance that captures the spirit of immediacy that can never be preserved in the studio. BBC Radio 3 recognizes this, and their Lunchtime Concert series brings some of that magic home.

Recorded before a live audience at Wigmore Hall, the music benefits from a direct connection with listeners.
Three of Hungary's most established chamber musicians, the Takács Piano Trio, perform two beloved pieces. Centered around the delicate fingerwork of Dénes Várjon at the piano, Beethoven's 'Archduke' Trio highlights Várgon's technique through swift, sweeping passages and jovial lyrical sections. Haydn's Piano Trio in G Major is more restrained, a stately piece uniting the violin, cello and piano in exquisite, sweet melody. Building to its festive Rondo, the piece is crowd pleaser. Listeners to the album will enjoy it as much as did the audience at Wigmore Hall.
