In 2011 Péter Szabó has been awarded the Franz Liszt Prize, one of the most prestigious prizes for artistic accomplishments given by the Hungarian State. In 2014 he was awarded with the László Lajtha Prize. In 2024 he was awarded with the Knight's Cross Order Merit of Hungary.
