Aims

The Sinfonietta Pannonica Orchestra was founded in 2010 by Péter Szabó, Liszt Award cellist, who is the artistic director and the conductor of the orchestra.

As a debut the Orchestra in the first year have made a world premier recording of Johann BaptistVanhal’s Cello Concertos. The recording was edited by Hungaroton Classic Label Company with Peter Szabó’s solo playing.

The orchestra was established from the soloists of the best leading symphonic orchestras of Hungary (Budapest Festival Orchestra, Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra and Hungarian Radio Symphonic Orchestra), and the best of the young instrumentalists of Hungary.
Since its formation it has always attracted excellent players, many of whom have flourishing solo, chamber music and teaching careers alongside their orchestral work.

The main purpose of the Orchestra is to take such kind of rarely performed, music history curiosities, into the repertoire, which wasn’t recorded or performed before. As the results of the musicological research, manuscripts discoveries to present the life work of the classical composers, to process and perform the values of the libraries in the world.

The presentation of the Hungarian related classical or contemporary Hungarian compositions has getting a special emphasis in the repertoire of the orchestra. Widening the repertoire the orchestra is turning to commission new works from the significant contemporary composers.

The aim of the Sinfonietta Pannonica is to create a special music workshop where the basic requirement is the word-class sonority and to continue the noble traditions of Hungarian musical culture, furthermore, the continuous artistic renewal intentions.

Other important goals of the Orchestra are to present such a major life-works of significant XX. Century composers, which were unfairly pushed into background due to historical reasons.
Serious mission of the orchestra to acquaint the audience the unknown works of the Hungarian composers forced into exile.
